Rehabilitation of Various Bridges on Route 8 in Bridgeport
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that night-time pavement joint repairs are scheduled to be performed on Route 8 NB and SB in Bridgeport starting September 28, 2015.
This work is the initial phase of the ongoing Design-Build project involving the rehabilitation of Bridges 03761, 03762, 03764 and 03765 carrying Route 8 over Capital Avenue and Lindley Street. These repairs are scheduled to last approximately 3 weeks and will occur between 7 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
This project is part of a CTDOT initiative program promoting the use of innovative contracting and construction techniques. In addition to the use of Design-Build contracting, the project will utilize Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods which will shorten the overall duration of the project while at the same time minimizing the impacts to the traveling public. Additional project information can be found on the project website located at http://rt8bridgeport.com.
Motorists traveling southbound on Routes 8 and 25 can expect lane closures between the Route 8/25 merge and Exit 3 (Main St). Motorists traveling northbound on the Route 8/25 connector can expect lane closures between Exit 2 (Lafayette Square) and Exit 5 (Boston Ave). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
DOT Project No. 15-363 was awarded to the Design-Build team of Manafort Brothers, Inc. of Plainville, CT and Parsons Brinkerhoff on March 27 for $34,752,000.00 with an anticipated completion date of July 25, 2016.
