Replacement of Existing School Advance Warning and School Crossing Signs and Posts on Town-Owned and Maintained Roadways in Eastern and Southwestern Connecticut
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a project to replace existing school advance warning and school crossing signs and posts on town owned and maintained roadways with new fluorescent yellow-green signs. The new signs comply with the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and will provide enhanced safety and road user recognition, especially in dusk and dawn periods.
The contract, Project No. 170-3295 was
awarded to Hi-Way Safety Systems, Inc. Of Rockland, MA on December 2, 2014,
at a cost of $735,124.00 and is scheduled for completion in September 2015.
The contractor will be allowed to perform work that
will interfere with traffic operations including turning lanes Monday through Friday between 8:00am
to 4:00pm, and 7:00pm to 6:00am.
Motorists should be aware that
modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to
weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
