Southbound Side of Putnam Bridge to be Closed this Weekend
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the planned closure of the southbound side of Route 3 over the Putnam Bridge between Glastonbury and Wethersfield for the weekend of July 31 – August 3, 2015, weather permitting. Southbound motorists will be directed to I-91 via Route 2 westbound and Route 15 southbound to the Charter Oak Bridge.
This closure is necessary for the completion of bridge joint construction as part of the on-going $35 million bridge rehabilitation project being constructed by Mohawk Northeast Inc. This schedule may change based on weather and work that needs to be completed.
LANE CLOSURE INFO: Contractor scheduled directional closures will be in effect continuously from 8:00 PM Friday until 5:00 AM Monday.
The southbound side of the bridge will be closed to traffic between the Main Street exit in Glastonbury and I-91 in Wethersfield. The closure will start at 8 p.m. Friday with all lanes of travel reopened by 5 a.m. Monday.
DETOUR INFO-
Motorists will be directed to take Route 2 to the Charter Oak Bridge (Routes 5 & 15). Signs and police officers will be stationed at key intersections.
Other contractor operations may necessitate lane closures Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
