Five-Day Road Closure Scheduled for Route 178 in Bloomfield Beginning Monday, December 12, 2016
In order to facilitate the replacement of a culvert carrying Filley Brook below Route 178 in Bloomfield, the Connecticut Department of Transportation will be closing Route 178 beginning on Monday, December 12, 2016. The closure is expected to last five days, with the road reopening on December 16, 2016. The closure will be from Prospect Street to Crestview Drive.
A detour will be posted for eastbound Route 178 to use Route 189 south, to Route 218 east, to Tyler Street north, to Route 178. A reversed route will be used to detour westbound traffic.
The existing twin 48-inch corrugated metal culvert pipes have deteriorated and require replacement.
R.E.D. Technologies, LLC, of Bloomfield has been hired to install the new culvert pipes. It is anticipated that route 178 will reopen on December 16, but other work off of the roadway will continue to finalize the project.
