Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals
The Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to install new traffic control signal equipment and/or upgrade the pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pedestrian signals, sidewalk ramps) to meet current Department standards at 17 locations in the towns/cities of Bolton, Colchester, East Haddam, East Hampton, Griswold, Groton, Middletown, Plainfield and Putnam. The following intersections are included:

• Colchester – Route 85 at Halls Hill Road and Doctor Foote Road (Intersection No. 028-209)
• East Hampton – Route 66 at North Main Street and Main Street (Intersection No. 041-205)
• Groton – U.S. Route 1 at Route 12 and Kings Highway #1 and S.R. 900 (Bonnie Circle) (Intersection No. 058-201)
• Groton – Route 184 at S.R. 614 (Cow Hill Road) and Pumpkin Hill Road (Intersection No. 058-224)

It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.
The design plans for these projects are expected to be completed in July 2017 with a tentative advertising date for construction of September 2017.
