Lane Reduction on I-84 Eastbound for the Rehabilitation of Bridges 03311, 03312, 03313, 03320, & 03322 (I-84 & Rt. 72 Interchange) in Plainville and New Britain
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing I-84 Eastbound will be reduced from three (3) lanes to two (2) lanes on Bridge 3312 which carries I-84 over Route 72 & 372 in Plainville / New Britain from July 5, 2016, through August 31, 2016.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of Bridge 03311, which carries I-84 WB over Routes 72 & 372, Bridge 03312 which carries I-84 EB over Rt.72 & 372, Bridge 03313 the I-84 WB Exit to Rt.72 EB, Bridge 03320 the Rt.72 Exit onto I-84 EB, and Bridge 3322 (the Slater Rd overpass for I-84) providing access to the I-84 WB Exit and Entrance Ramps.
The overall scope of rehabilitation for these bridges consists of patching of the deck, applying a new bituminous overlay, repairing the steel superstructure members, and patching the substructure as necessary. Superstructure rehabilitation consists of steel repairs by installing plates at locations noted in the inspection report and cleaning and painting the beam ends and bearing devices. The expansion bearings on Bridge No. 03322 at the abutments will be replaced and the parapets on Bridge Nos. 03312, 03313, 03320 and 03322 will be modified.
DOT Project No. 0109-0072 was awarded to Manafort Brothers Incorporated of Plainville, CT at a cost of $15,671,173.00 on February 01, 2016, and is scheduled to be completed on October 28, 2017.
