Public Information Meeting Regarding the Proposed Upgrade of the Rotary at Route 190 and Route 32 (Main Street at River Road) to a Modern Roundabout in Stafford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public information meeting concerning the proposed rotary upgrade to a modern roundabout on Route 190 at Route 32 (Main Street at River Road) in Stafford on Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Stafford Senior Center, 3 Buckley Highway (Route 190) Stafford Springs, Connecticut.  The design presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The project is identified as State Project No. 134-TMP2.
The primary purpose of the proposed project is to enhance safety at the rotary-type intersection of Routes 190 and 32 (Main Street and River Road) by upgrading it to a modern roundabout.  Although the existing intersection has many of the features of a modern roundabout design, like a splitter island and a center island (the existing fountain), the alignment on several of the approaches have minimal deflection resulting in confusion to which vehicles have the right of way.
The public information meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
The meeting facility is ADA accessible. Deaf and hearing impaired persons wishing to attend the meeting and requiring an interpreter must make arrangements by contacting the Department of Transportation's Office of Communications (voice only) at (860) 594-3062 at least five working days prior to the meeting.  Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public, and efforts will be made to respond to requests for assistance.
Plans of the potential project will be on display for public review.  Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss the project.  More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact Mr. William W. Britnell at (860) 594-3274 or by e-mail at William.Britnell@ct.gov.  Plans are also available for review at the Stafford Town Hall, Public Works Department two weeks prior to the meeting.
