The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public informational meeting concerning proposed major Intersection Improvements on Route 10/US 202 (Salmon Brook Street) at Route 20/189 (North Granby Road/East Granby Road) and at Route 189 (Hartford Avenue) on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Granby Senior Center, 15 North Granby Road, Granby, Connecticut.

The project is identified as State Project No. 55-TMP1.

The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce delays and queue lengths during peak travel periods within Granby center by widening Salmon Brook Street, North Granby Road/East Granby Road and Hartford Avenue for additional auxiliary lanes. In addition, operational deficiencies will be addressed by a minor realignment of North Granby Road to improve turning capabilities for eastbound left-turning and through vehicles. This proposed project will also improve pedestrian accommodations by closing gaps in the existing sidewalk system and providing new sidewalks along the south side of East Granby Road to Bank Street.

Right-of-way impacts associated with these improvements are anticipated to include nine (9) partial property acquisitions.

The public informational meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.

The meeting facility is ADA accessible.  Language assistance may be requested by contacting the Department’s Office of Communications (voice only) at (860) 594-3062 at least five (5) working days prior to the meeting.  Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public, and efforts will be made to respond to requests for assistance.

Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review.  Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact Hugh H.
