The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of rehabilitation work on the Mayflower Street Bridge over I-84 in West Hartford on or about the week of March 1, 2016.

The bridge will be replaced in stages with half the bridge being worked on at a time. 

DOT Project No. 0155-0169 was awarded to New England Infrastructure from Hudson, MA at a cost of $6.2 million and is scheduled to be completed in December 2016.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

Mayflower Street: There will be an alternating signalized one-way traffic pattern starting March 20, 2016. 

I-84: Motorists can expect scheduled lane closures on I-84 nightly between the hours of 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Times will vary based on the day of the week and location of the closure. 

Adjacent streets and unassociated ramps: Lane closures may occur Monday thru Friday between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.  Lane closures on Saturday and Sunday may be expected between 6:00 PM and 10:00 AM.  

The contractor will be allowed to halt traffic on I-84 and Mayflower Street for a period not to exceed 10 minutes to perform necessary work for the erection and setting of structural steel, and for the removal of the existing bridge superstructure, between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM on all non-holiday days.

Boswell Road: Motorists will be directed to take a left on to Cottage Avenue then turn right onto Crosshill Road to Mayflower Street.

Elmhurst Street: Motorists will be directed to take Elmhurst Circle back to Mayflower Street.

Detour signs will be posted for both detour routes.
