Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00330, U.S. Route 1 Over Wepawaug River in Milford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a construction stage shift will occur on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, to facilitate continued reconstruction of Bridge No. 00330 on U.S. Route 1 in Milford.
The project consists of the full replacement of the existing bridge structure, including minor drainage improvements. The existing 84-year old bridge that is considered structurally deficient. The purpose of the stage shift is to continue construction on the north side of the bridge. Traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed southern portion of the bridge. There will be two lanes to accommodate northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic.
CTDOT Project No. 0083-0258 was awarded to Empire Paving, Inc. of North Haven, CT on February 25, 2015 at a cost of $4,366,950.00 and is scheduled to be completed by September 4, 2016.
TRAFFIC INFO:
Route 1 – Traffic is currently shifted to the northern half of the new bridge. Lanes are currently staged with no shoulder and reduced lane width in both directions from two lanes down to one lane between West River Street and U.S. Route 121.
Beginning on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed southern portion of the bridge. There will be two lanes to accommodate northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic.
Due to the stage shift operation there may be traffic interference. Traffic in the area is encouraged to find an alternate route.
