Replacement of Bridge No. 05588, Route 74 over Hockanum River in Vernon
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the replacement of Bridge No. 05588, Route 74 over Hockanum River, is scheduled to begin on or about Friday, April 1, 2016 in the town of Vernon.
The project consists of a 42-foot long clear span bridge utilizing precast concrete deck units cast integral on precast abutments founded on steel piles. Curb to curb width will be 32-feet which consists of two 11-foot travel lanes and 5-foot shoulders on each side. A 5-foot wide sidewalk will be constructed on the south side of the bridge.
DOT Project No. 0146-0196, was awarded to NJR Construction LLC, of Torrington, Connecticut on December 14, 2015, at a cost of $ 1,982,181.00 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2016.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
There will be an alternating one-way traffic pattern on Route 74 between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The majority of the construction work will be performed utilizing an eight week detour during the summer months while schools are closed. A separate press release will be issued at that time.
