Temporary Lane Reduction of South State Street in Stamford Beginning on or About November 9, 2016.
To accommodate drainage and sewer construction activities, South State Street in Stamford will be reduced to one eastbound lane beginning on or about November 9, through December 7, 2016. Motorist should seek alternate routes around the construction area.
The lane reduction will be used to minimize the duration of traffic impacts and to expedite the associated work installing a new sanitary sewer line and underground utility conduit bank concurrently between Guernsey Ave. and Atlantic Street. The work is anticipated to take about three weeks to complete depending on the amount of rock encountered.
About the project:
The project consists of improvements to Interstate 95 Exit 8 along with Atlantic Street and South State Street in Stamford. The project will improve the lane configuration along South State Street and provide a more efficient traffic flow exiting I-95 as well as improve the drainage in the area. This work will involve temporary off-ramp lane reductions for the completion of the new Exit 8 flyover bridge and retaining walls along the I-95 corridor between Atlantic Street and Canal Street.
DOT Project No. 0135-0326 was awarded to Yonkers Contracting Co., Inc. of, CT on January 15, 2016 for $33,881,217.09 with an official start date of February 8, 2016 and is anticipated to be complete in June 2018.
