Traffic Detour for Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00548 on US Route 7 over I-84 and Beaver Brook in Danbury
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a nighttime bridge closure and detour starting today for the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00548 on US Route 7 southbound over I-84 westbound.
The project consists of substructure repairs, abrasive blast cleaning and painting of steel beams, replacement of bearings, and deck resurfacing along with minor safety improvements.
DOT Project No. 0034-0334 was awarded to Olympus Painting Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $3,302,282.50 on July 14, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in May 2016.
DETOUR INFO
Beginning tonight, Bridge No. 00548 on US Route 7 southbound toward I-84 eastbound will be closed. A detour will be in place from 10pm to 6am. Traffic will be detoured from US Route 7 southbound, to I-84 westbound, to exit 6. Motorists can access I-84 eastbound at Exit 6. Shoulder closures in the area will start at 7pm. Nightly bridge closures should last approximately 6 weeks.
