The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the weekend closure, August 5, to August 8, 2016,  for the replacement of Bridge 06815 (Route 172 over unnamed brook)  in Southbury.

The existing corrugated metal pipe culvert will be replaced with a new precast concrete box culvert. This project is located on route 172 in Southbury just South of Hollow Swamp Road.

DOT Project No. 0130-0179 was awarded to Dayton Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $727,940.15 on March 3, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed September 2016.

Motorists can expect periodic lane closures on Route 172 leading up to a scheduled 57 hour detour of Route 172 beginning Friday, August 5, 2016, at 8:00 PM and ending on Monday August 8, 2016 at 5:00 AM.

Detour Route: Route 172: Follow posted detour using South Main Street, Route 6, and Route 67.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.

Signing patterns, flaggers and/or local law enforcement will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
