Connecticut Airport Authority to Begin Roadway Reconstruction Project on SSR 401 (Schoephoester Rd) in Windsor Locks near Bradley International Airport
The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is beginning construction activities involving the reconstruction of a portion of State Service Road 401 (Schoephoester Road), along with a realignment of the airport lower roadway system. The project will construct a modern roundabout and install new traffic control signals.
Motorists can expect lane shifts and traffic control signing patterns to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. The construction will not interrupt access to the airport from the Route 20 connector, however, there may be slight delays due to the shifting and reduction of lanes. It is anticipated that the roadway work will take 420 calendar days to complete. When finished the new roadway alignment will allow the CAA to improve the infrastructure at Bradley International Airport. The work is being performed by Mastrobattisto Construction hired by the CAA working under a State Highway Encroachment Permit.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
For additional information on the project please visit About Bradley Airport or contact Alisa Sisic at the CAA at 860-292-2107.
