Nighttime Milling and Resurfacing on Route 72 and I-84 in New Britain and Plainville
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 72 in New Britain and Plainville and I-84 EB in Plainville, beginning Monday, April 17, 2017.
The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.89 mile segment of Route 72 in New Britain and Plainville and a .72 mile segment of I-84 EB in Plainville from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 to the morning of Thursday, June 8, 2017. The milling segment for this project is scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017, to Thursday, May 4, 2017 and from Sunday, May 7, 2017 to Thursday, May 18, 2017. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to be performed on Monday, May 15, 2017, to Monday, May 22, 2017 and from Sunday May 28, 2017 to Thursday, June 8, 2017.
LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 72 SB from the northbound beginning overpass of Route 9 SB and Route 9 ramp to the southbound overpass of the Springfield Terminal Railroad and I-84 EB from .04 miles west of the underpass of SR 536 (Crooked St.) to .03 miles west of the eastbound access from SR 536. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The first day of milling will begin at 8:00 p.m.
