Replacement of Bridge 01890, U.S. Route 1 (Boston Post Road) over Center Brook in Old Saybrook
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work will begin on April 1, 2017 on the replacement of Bridge 01890, Route 1 over Center Brook in the Town of Old Saybrook.
Project 105-211 consists of the replacement of the bridge with a precast box culvert and precast wingwalls. The replacement will begin with the relocation of existing utilities and reconstruction of the east and west approaches to the bridge. The project will include drainage and general roadway improvements, as well as improvements to signalization at the Route 1 and Center Road intersection.
DOT Project No. 0105-0211 was awarded to LaRosa Earth Group, LLC at a cost of $1,079,219.40 on November 22, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed November 26, 2017.

U.S. Route 1 and all other roadways: Traffic impacts may occur periodically Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Route 1, just east of Route 166, will be detoured while the demolition and construction of the new bridge is performed. The detour will occur for a 5 day period between September 15, 2017 and November 8, 2017. The full road closure will commence at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday and end at 5:00 a.m. the following Wednesday. Specific dates of this closure will be published in a future press release.
