Replacement of Bridge Number 02375 on the Route 2 Westbound Exit Ramp to Governor Street in East Hartford to Begin March 13, 2017

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the planned closure of the Route 2 Westbound, East Hartford Exit Ramp to Governor Street, beginning March 13, 2017, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary for the replacement of Bridge 02375. The bridge will be closed beginning March 13, 2017 until the anticipated completion in November 2017. The work is being conducted as part of the on-going $22 million bridge replacement and rehabilitation project within the Route 2 / I-84 Interchange being performed by the Brunalli Construction Company.

DETOUR INFO:

Route 2 East Hartford, Governor Street Exit: Motorists will be directed to take Exit 3 to Pitkin Street to Darlin Street to Connecticut Boulevard (SR44) to Prospect Street to Governor Street. Pitkin Street has been re-stripped to accommodate additional traffic.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:
Lane closures on Route 2, I-84 and associated ramps may occur nightly between the hours of 10:00 PM and 06:00 AM. Times will vary based on the day of the week and location of the closure. Lane closures on adjacent streets and unassociated ramps may occur Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 3:00PM daily, or 6:00PM to 6:00AM nightly.

Intermittent ten minute traffic shut downs between the hours of 10:00 pm and 5:00 am are anticipated on I-84 Eastbound near Exit 55 for demolition and girder installation activities.

Periodic weekend closures of the I-84 Eastbound Connector from Founders Bridge are anticipated. Detours will be implemented.
