Route 175 (Cedar Street) Bridge Work in Newington
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the rehabilitation of Bridge 04326, Route 175 over Amtrak in Newington, is starting April 17, 2017.
The project consists of a full superstructure replacement and widening, concrete sidewalk on the north side of the bridge, new drainage, paving and line striping work. In later months, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction over two separate weekends in order to remove existing concrete box beams and to install precast bridge units used in the bridge span replacement.
DOT Project No. 0093-0200 was awarded to O & G Industries, Inc. at a cost of $4,982,432.74 on March 2, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed on October 20, 2017.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Route 175:
The contractor will be allowed to interfere with traffic Monday through Friday between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM and Saturday and Sunday between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
During future Stages 2 and 4, the contractor will be allowed to close one lane in each direction for a period that may start no earlier than 9:00 PM on Friday evening and end no later than 5:00 AM on the following Monday morning. These two separate 56-hour lane closures will occur during non-holiday weekends and will be announced in future notifications.
