    Nighttime Installation of Centerline Rumble Strips on Various Routes and Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing nighttime work for the installation of centerline rumble strips on various roads in various towns, beginning Monday, August 13, 2018.

The project consists of the installation of centerline rumble strips on State-owned roadways.  Rumble strips are a proven safety countermeasure and will minimize the number of lane departure crashes.  The rumble strips will alert drivers through noise and vibration should their vehicle veer off into an opposing lane of traffic.  This project is scheduled to occur Monday, August 13, 2018 through Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

         The project covers the following areas:

·         Route 111 – Monroe

·         Route 104 – Stamford

·         Route 7 – Wilton

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 111 from 25 feet north of Historic Drive to 380 feet north of Old Church Road, Route 104 from just north of Butternut Lane to just south of Riverbank Road and Route 7 from 150 feet north of Olmstead Hill Road to 0.15 mile south of Old Mill Road and 150 feet north of Old Mill Road to 0.15 miles south of New Street.

This work will be performed utilizing a moving operation with intermittent closures of lanes to complete the work.  Please use caution around this operation as these vehicles will be moving slower than posted speeds and when possible move over to provide them a buffer lane during work activity.  The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Route 111 (Monday) and 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Routes 104 and 7 (Tuesday)

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
