As part of the Connecticut Department of Transportation's (Department) Pavement Preservation Program, a section of Interstate 95 (I-95) in Orange and West Haven, has been identified as a candidate for this program for the 2019 construction season.

The purpose of this program is to enhance pavement performance by using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavements. The Department is developing plans to mill and overlay two (2) inches of pavement along I-95 NB and SB in Orange from mile marker 41.83, extending northerly into West Haven to mile marker 45.53. This project will also include milling and overlaying of the I-95 entrance and exit ramps at Saw Mill Road, Campbell Avenue, and First Avenue.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2018, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2019, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits.  This project will be undertaken with ninety percent (90%) federal funds and ten (10%) state funds.

It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with the Department to assist in the project's development.  At this time, it is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be necessary due the limited nature of the proposed work.
