Public Information Meeting Regarding the Proposed Installation of Horizontal Curve Warning Signs on State Roads in Guilford
The Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public information meeting concerning the proposed installation of horizontal curve warning signs on state-owned roads in Guilford, on Monday November 26, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center, Whitefield Room, 32 Church Street, Guilford, Connecticut 06437.
Project No. 0173-0485 will systemically install/upgrade horizontal alignment signs on all state-owned roads in southwestern Connecticut.  The project will also be removing any horizontal alignment signs on curves where signs are no longer warranted.  The purpose of this project reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes on curves located on stated-owned roads.
The roads included under this project in Guilford are U.S. Route 1, Connecticut Route 77, Connecticut Route 80, Interstate 95 and Connecticut Route 146.
Construction is anticipated to commence in Fall 2019, assuming availability of funding.  The estimated construction/installation cost  for the southwestern region of the state is $2,075,000 and will use federal funds.
The public information meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for the public’s participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have prior to progressing the proposed project into the final design phase.

The meeting facility is ADA accessible.  Language assistance may be requested by contacting the Department’s Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109 at least five business days prior to the meeting.  Persons with hearing and/or speech disabilities may dial 711 for Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS).  Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public and efforts will be made to respond to timely requests for assistance.

Preliminary design plans will be available for public review.  Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at the Department's Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to review the plans may contact Ms. Erika B.
