Retaining Wall Repairs on Route 12 in Norwich to Begin February 12, 2018
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the retaining wall repair project on Route 12 in Norwich is scheduled to begin on February 12, 2018.
The purpose of the project is to provide a permanent fix to the structurally deficient retaining wall. The existing dry stacked stone retaining wall will be replaced with a combination of a precast concrete block wall and an earthen slope to support the roadway. A portion of the existing sidewalk will be replaced and a protective fence will be installed.
The contract was awarded to Baier Construction Company, Inc. of Bloomfield, Connecticut at a cost of $496,926.00 on December 12, 2017, and is scheduled to be completed in June 2018.

Traffic may experience delays Monday through Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.; and on Saturdays and Sundays beginning on or about March 1, 2018.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to proceed with caution through all other construction work zones.
