Statewide Town-Owned-Road Pedestrian Signage and Pedestrian Pavement Markings Upgrade Program
The Connecticut Department of Transportation, utilizing dedicated federal safety funding, is planning to systematically replace existing pedestrian signing and associated subplates with new retro-reflective warning signs and post delineators at all unsignalized and midblock marked crosswalks as well as upgrading pedestrian pavement markings on local roads in participating towns throughout Connecticut. These upgrades will be in compliance with national standards and will help improve visibility and conspicuity of existing marked crosswalks.
The project is tentatively expected to be constructed during the 2019 and 2020 construction season with a cost of approximately $6 million dollars, and includes roughly 1500 locations statewide.
Additional press releases will be issued when installation activities begin.
