The Newtown Turnpike Bridge over the Merritt Parkway in Westport will Have Reduced Lane Widths and no Shoulders beginning on August 13, 2018, Until Approximately June, 2019
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that rehabilitation work on the bridge carrying Newtown Turnpike over the Merritt Parkway in Westport will begin on August 13, 2018. The local road over the Merritt Parkway will maintain two-way traffic, with reduced 11-foot lane widths and closed shoulders starting Monday August 13, 2018 at 6 AM. This traffic pattern will remain in place until June 2019.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of 5 miles (each direction) of Route 15 and 11 structures (over and underpasses) in the Towns of Fairfield and Westport. Upgrades to pavement, guiderail, drainage and historic concrete are included.
DOT Project No. 0158-0211/207 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $56,712,000.00 on January 20, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed August 20, 2019.
