The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of Phase 2 work on or about June 1, 2018, which includes replacing the Metro North/Atlantic Street Bridge, the reconstruction of Atlantic Street and track and infrastructure improvements to the Stamford Train Station. 

Phase 2 work which includes replacing the Metro North/Atlantic Street Bridge, the reconstruction of Atlantic Street and track and infrastructure improvements to the Stamford Train Station.  Multimodal accommodations will provide for future bike lanes and beautification will be incorporated in the project.

DOT Project No. 135-301 & 301-163 was awarded to Halmar International of New York, NY on September 1, 2017 for $74,846,308 with an official start date of July 1, 2018 and is anticipated to be complete on November 30, 2020. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 3, New Haven.

DETOUR AND LANE CLOSURE INFO
The first major part of Phase 2 is to install the railroad track jump spans to prepare the new abutments for the replacement of the MNRR Bridge over Atlantic Street.  This work will take place during evening hours only with no reduction in train service expected.  The jump span installations are scheduled to be completed by Fall 2018.

South State Street lanes will remain at two (2) lanes between Atlantic Street and Canal Street.

Variable message signs on Interstate 95 and South State Street will be utilized to advise motorists of traffic conditions in the area. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
