Connecticut DOT Announces Station Stop Changes to the April 1, 2007 New Haven Line Train Schedule

The New Haven Line train schedule taking effect April 1, 2007, will include stops benefiting Connecticut’s intrastate riders, according to Peter A. Richter, Chief of the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Public Transportation.

For morning customers traveling from the east end of the New Haven Line, a South Norwalk stop will be added on the train departing New Haven at 7:59 a.m., reducing a 54 minute gap in service for commuters to this station.  Customers riding this train will arrive in South Norwalk at 8:39 a.m.

For evening customers, the 4:50 p.m. Stamford Shore Line East Express originating in Stamford will have Stratford and Milford added to its schedule, arriving at 5:20 p.m. and 5:26 p.m., respectively, in response to customer input and to better serve Connecticut’s intrastate commuters.  This train will arrive in New Haven-Union Station at 5:40 p.m.   

"The DOT and Metro-North are listening to our customers, and in addition to the many significant benefits that the new schedule offers, we saw the ability to go a step further for our customers," Richter said. “This schedule will offer the highest quality of service to the many travel markets the New Haven Line serves.  We appreciate the comments and observations received from our customers, and we will be communicating these new stop changes via seat drops, station posters, the web advisory and public address announcements.”

The April 1 schedule change was developed to provide more seats, reduce travel times and improve the overall reliability of the New Haven Line service. Five new morning peak trains were added.  New service was also added for reverse peak customers traveling into Connecticut in the morning.  Finally, weekend trains were added to provide riders more service on both Saturdays and Sundays.
