NEWINGTON, CT – Connecticut Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner H. James Boice announced today that Central Street in the Forestville section of Bristol will be closed to thru traffic between April 28, 2008 and June 11, 2008.
The closure is necessary as construction of Relocated Route 72 in Plainville and Bristol progresses. The closure of Central Street will permit Manafort Brothers Inc. to reconstruct Central Street at the intersection of the new Route 72. This work will involve two new water mains and a new sanitary sewer, as well as storm drainage, and new roadway and sidewalks.
Signage informing local residents has been posted. Motorists are advised to utilize Lincoln Avenue instead of Central Street. Signage guiding motorists through the affected area will be posted prior to the closure.
Motorists are urged to proceed with caution and obey the posted speed limits when traveling through this and all other construction zones.
