Public Information Meeting concerning the improvements on Route 44 at
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Information Meeting (as part of the Town Council Meeting) concerning proposed improvements on Route 44 at
The proposed project improvements include widening the shoulders on Route 44 at its intersection with Birch and Cedar Swamp Roads to 8’ to provide bypass capability and reduce the potential for rear-end and turning type accidents. Along with the widening,
Construction is anticipated to begin in the 2011 construction season. The estimated cost for this project is approximately $1 million and will be undertaken with Federal funds. One partial acquisition of residential property is anticipated.
The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review. ConnDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project. More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike,
