Newly Renovated Service Plazas Reopen on I-395 in Plainfield
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) announced today that the newly renovated service plazas on I-395 northbound and southbound in Plainfield have reopened. This brings to six the number of service plazas that have been completely remodeled or rebuilt by Project Service LLC, the company now operating the 23 DOT-owned service plazas around the state.
“We are making great progress under our partnership with Project Service,” said DOT Commissioner James P. Redeker. “The fresh, clean look, combined with fresh, healthy food alternatives, provide a great incentive for travelers to stop in and take a break on our highways.”
Work on the Plainfield service plazas began in October 2011. In addition to food from Dunkin’ Donuts and Subway, the service plazas feature a Mobil Mart convenience store and Mobil gasoline.
Project Service and the State of Connecticut signed a 35-year agreement for the service plaza renovation and operation project in late 2009.
The 23 service plazas are located on:
Connecticut Turnpike (northbound and southbound)
· Darien
· Fairfield
· Milford
· Branford
· Madison
Merritt Parkway (northbound and southbound)
· Greenwich
· Fairfield
· New Canaan
Wilbur Cross Parkway (northbound and southbound)
· Orange
· North Haven
I-395
· Montville (southbound)
· Plainfield (northbound and southbound)
Currently, there are six additional construction projects underway. They are:
Connecticut Turnpike (northbound and southbound)
· Branford and Darien, Currently scheduled to reopen in the Spring of 2013
Merritt Parkway
· Fairfield (NB), Scheduled to reopen by the end of October 2012
· Fairfield (SB), Scheduled to reopen by the end of November 2012
“We are proud to announce the Plainfield locations have now reopened for business. Both properties have been completely renovated with a new Dunkin’ Donuts and Subway along with a Mobil Mart Convenience Store and Field,” said Paul Landino, President/CEO of Project Service LLC.
“Our entire team and CT DOT have done a terrific job working together to complete these two properties. We are excited to see Dunkin’ Donuts and Subway for the first time at these I-395 sites,” said Landino.
Three additional locations will begin redevelopment in October. They are the northbound and southbound locations in Greenwich on Rt-15 and the Montville Service Plaza on I-395.
