SHORE LINE EAST RAIL SERVICE UPDATES AVAILABLE ON TWITTER

   The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) today announced the availability of Shore Line East rail service updates through Twitter.  These alerts allow travelers to receive important alerts about train service changes and delays. 

   “We are excited to roll out the Shore Line East Twitter feed to our valued customers,” stated CT DOT Commissioner James P. Redeker. “With advancements in technology and communication, our passengers expect and deserve to be kept informed of any issues that may impact their travel. While we do our best to avoid service issues, some cannot be prevented and this Twitter feed can help inform people where and when they need it.” 

   Shore Line East rail service messages will be posted to Twitter and individuals must opt-in, or follow, the feed to receive the information. The posts will cover a range of updates, including weather delays, mechanical issues, or cancellations. Twitter alerts can be accessed across a broad range of devices from desktop and laptop computers to tablets and mobile devices.

   To sign up for Shore Line East’s Twitter feed users can go to www.Twitter.com/ShoreLineEast and click the “follow” button. To receive updates on a mobile device without a Twitter account, text “follow @ShoreLineEast” (there must be a space between follow and the @ symbol) to 40404 (standard text rates apply).

   Shore Line East rail service operates between Old Saybrook and New Haven seven days a week (including holidays), with additional weekday service extensions to and from New London, Bridgeport and Stamford. Connections to the New Haven Line and Amtrak are available at New Haven’s Union Station.
