Canopy Work Begins at Glenbrook Train Station;
Minor Parking Impacts During Construction
The construction of canopies at the Glenbrook railroad station in Stamford will begin Monday, June 17, 2013, and continue through May 2014. The project will require a minor reduction in the number of available parking spaces, and as a result, commuters are advised to allow extra time to reach the station and board the train.
The station will remain open, and both vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times during construction.
This $1.7 million project is being done by Waters Construction Co. of Bridgeport and is part of an ongoing project to upgrade rail facilities on the New Canaan branch of the New Haven Line and meet the future needs of Connecticut’s public transportation system.
There are currently 160 parking spaces at the Glenbrook station; about 10 of those spaces will be unavailable during this construction project.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), which owns the railroad and stations, appreciates commuters’ patience and cooperation as these improvements and upgrades are made.
This is DOT Project No. 302-0013; the public contact is Mr. Will Arhin, 203 348-0254.
