Traffic Advisory: Route 82/East Haddam Swing Bridge
On Saturday, June 15, 2013, the towns of East Haddam and Haddam will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the swing bridge that carries Route 82 over the Connecticut River. The bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic for a Historic Crossing, starting at 8:55 a.m. for about 45 minutes.
Additionally, there will be multiple events on both the East Haddam and Haddam side of the bridge following the Crossing. Residents are advised to expect heavy traffic and delays in the area of the bridge between the hours of 7:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
Those not attending the Bridge event should use alternate routes over the bridges in Portland or Old Lyme during this period.
