CTfastrak "Rentschler Flyer" Begins Direct Transit Service This Saturday To UConn Football Games At Pratt & Whitney Stadium In East Hartford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that the CTfastrak "Rentschler Flyer Route 120" bus service to all Saturday University of Connecticut home football games at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford will start this Saturday as UConn plays the University of Virginia at 1.30 p.m.

The CTfastrak Rentschler Flyer will also travel to the four other Saturday home games, on September 24th against Syracuse, October 8th against Cincinnati, October 22nd against Central Florida and on November 26th against Tulane.  Bus departure times and any detours due to downtown Hartford events will be announced as the start time for each game is finalized.

On Saturday, September 17th, the CTfastrak Rentschler Flyer will leave from Bay E at the CTfastrak Downtown New Britain Station at 11.33 a.m., 11.48 a.m., 12.03 p.m., 12.18 p.m. and 12.33 p.m.  The Rentschler Flyer will stop at each CTfastrak station and at Travelers at Main Street and Atheneum Square.  Travel time from the Travelers stop to the stadium is 15 minutes.

CTfastrak Rentschler Flyer Route 120 buses enter the stadium grounds via a special entrance and drop off football fans close to the stadium entrance. Information about free parking at CTfastrak stations with parking facilities can be found at http://ctfastrak.com/how-to-ride/where-to-park

On the return trip, the first Rentschler Flyer bus will depart Pratt & Whitney Stadium 10 minutes after the end of the third quarter of the football game. The remaining buses will leave 30 and 60 minutes after the game.

Regular fares apply to the Rentschler Flyer service and a free transfer is available from any local or express CTfastrak or CTtransit bus. As with all CTtransit buses, the fare for local service is $1.50 for a two-hour pass ($0.75 for seniors and disabled, youth fare is $1.20 and children age 4 and under are free). Customers are encouraged to purchase an all-day pass for $3.00 to avoid having to use the onboard fare box on the return trip.

Game attendees can also use the CTfastrak Route 121 bus which operates on Silver Lane and stops near Rentschler Field.  The Route 121 bus operates every half hour on Saturdays between Manchester Community College and downtown Hartford via Silver Lane and continues on to UConn Health in Farmington.

The CTfastrak Bus Rapid Transit system provides direct service to and from Waterbury, Cheshire, Southington, Bristol, Plainville, New Britain, Newington, West Hartford, Hartford, East Hartford and Manchester with routes that take advantage of the bus-only CTfastrak roadway. The CTfastrak system offers a one-seat, no-transfer ride to many major regional employment, education, shopping and healthcare destinations as well as connections to the New Haven Line-Waterbury branch rail in Waterbury and Amtrak service in Hartford.  A 4.5 mile multi-use trail runs parallel to the CTfastrak bus-only roadway from New Britain to Newington Junction.
