Welcome to the webpage for Project 0140-0178, Metallizing of 11 Bridges Along Route 8 in the towns of Thomaston and Litchfield.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation.
The purpose of the project is to protect steel members and preserve the condition of these steel bridges, thus extending their useful service life. This project is part of a statewide bridge painting program.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin Spring 2024 based on the availability of funding. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $33,000,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
