DOT Project 0173-0543 (Greenwich) Webpage
Welcome to the webpage for Installation of Centerline Rumble Strips on U.S. Route 1 (West Putnam Avenue) in Greenwich.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Thursday, September 5 at 6:00 P.M.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community an opportunity to learn about the proposed safety treatment and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the installation of centerline rumble strips on U.S. Route 1 (West Putnam Avenue) in Greenwich.
The goal of the project is to reduce the number of roadway departure and head on crashes on state roads by systemically installing centerline rumble strips (CLRS) as roads are resurfaced. U.S. Route 1 (West Putnam Avenue) is receiving pavement resurfacing and the planned CLRS extents are from 320 feet north of Pemberwick Road to Brookside Drive.
Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.
Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2024. The estimated construction cost for rumble strips in this section of U.S. Route 1 is approximately $7,000. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 100% state funds with no cost to the town.
