COVID-19 Payment Plans for Heat Utilities

In a cold state like Connecticut, the cost of heating accumulates into sizeable utility bills. But with the help of PURA (Public Utilities Regulatory Authority), all water, gas and electrity providers are required to offer COVID-19 payment plans.

Who Is Eligible for a COVID-19 Payment Plan

Both residential and nonresidential customers can apply for utility payment plans until the public health emergency declaration ends.

Demonstrating Financial Need - Is This Necessary?

Applicants do not have to show financial need in order to qualify for payment plans. Any customer who requires financial help for paying their past due utility amounts, along with their current bill can take advantage of COVID-19 payment plans.

Downpayments, Fees and Interest

Making a downpayment is not necessary. Also, when monthly payments are calculated, fees and interest are automatically waived.

COVID-19 repayment plans for electricity, gas and water can last up to 24 months.
