Data Release: Daily Statistics of Pretrial Inmates Accused of Misdemeanors, 5/17/16
Today, the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy released May 17, 2016 numbers for those accused of misdemeanor crimes who are currently in jail awaiting trial. Often, many of those pre-trial detainees are in prison because they cannot come up with even a few hundred dollars in bail.

Gov. Malloy & Lt. Gov. Wyman on Record Low Homelessness in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statements regarding an annual point-in-time count of homelessness in the state that was released today by the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness. The report shows that homelessness in Connecticut is down nearly four percent compared to 2015, and has declined 13 percent since 2007. With this new drop, homelessness rates have dropped to a new record low.

Gov. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Wyman Hail Final Legislative Passage of Bill Combating Opioid Addiction
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are hailing a vote in the State Senate this evening to approve legislation the Governor proposed - in collaboration with several members of the General Assembly - that will expand the state's effort to combat the opioid epidemic. The bill received approval last week in the House of Representatives, and it will next be transmitted to the Governor, who will sign it into law in the coming days.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman are applauding a vote in the State Senate this afternoon to approve a bill the Governor introduced that protects victims of domestic violence by prohibiting the possession of firearms for anyone who becomes subject to a temporary restraining order. The bill, which received approval last week in the House of Representatives, will now be transmitted to the Governor for his signature.
