Governor Dannel P. Malloy today gave a major public policy address at Yale Law School in New Haven, where he unveiled a series of “Second Chance Society” initiatives designed to continue the progress being made in reducing the state’s dropping crime rate, which is currently at a 48-year low, as well ensuring nonviolent offenders are being reintegrated into society and become productive members of Connecticut’s economy.

Gov. Malloy Signs Order Extending Property Tax Filing Deadline
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed Executive Order No. 44, which orders deadlines for Connecticut residents who pay property taxes on a semi-annual or quarterly basis to be extended several days due to the winter weather that has impacted the state over the last week.

With a winter storm bearing down on the state, Governor Dannel P. Malloy is urging residents to take it slow and, if possible, avoid travel during the height of the storm on Monday morning.

Gov. Malloy Announces Funding for Repairs and Construction at Hammonasset State Park
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Bond Commission has approved more than $9.9 million for repairs and construction at Hammonasset State Park in Madison that will be used to construct a new bathhouse to replace two buildings that were significantly damaged and subsequently demolished following Tropical Storm Irene and to replace the Meigs Point Nature Center.

Gov. Malloy Announces $5.1M in Funds to Enhance Connecticut's Power Grid
Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that the state Bond Commission today approved $5.1 million for the creation of two microgrid projects in Bridgeport and Milford that will help keep critical buildings and facilities powered even when the electric grid goes down.

Gov. Malloy Announces $480 Million in Grants and Loans for Wastewater Treatment Projects

Malloy today announced that a major package of $480 million in grants and loans to protect the state’s water quality by financing local projects aimed at improving wastewater treatment plants and sanitary sewer systems is expected to be approved when the State Bond Commission meets Friday.
