Keeping Students Safe, Schools Open, & Stopping the Spread!
Project COVID DeteCT
The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH), along with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), is offering FREE weekly COVID-19 screening testing in K-6 schools and select grade 7-12 education settings through the Project COVID DeteCT testing program.
Parents and guardians must complete the Project COVID DeteCT Parent Consent Form for their child to participate in the voluntary program. Once signed, the consent form will cover testing throughout the year.
Please note that individual schools must choose to participate in
Project COVID DeteCT in order for students at that school to be part of the program.
Keeping Students Safe, Schools Open, & Stopping the Spread!
Keeps schools safe by catching cases before they spread to other students and staff
Keeps our schools open by preventing further time away from in-person learning and friends by knowing whether the symptoms are COVID-19 or something else
Stops the spread by preventing infection of other members of your household or community
Screening testing is free and parents' insurance will not be accessed
The test is a lower nasal swab, not a "brain-tickler"
What to know about the Project COVID DeteCT program
Is testing free?
Testing is completely free for unvaccinated students. No insurance information will be collected from students' families.
