The Seamless Summer Option (SSO) combines features of National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). It reduces paperwork and administrative burden, making it easier for schools to feed children from low-income areas during the traditional summer vacation periods. School districts participating in the NSLP or SBP are eligible to apply to the Connecticut State Department of Education to participate in the SSO. In the SSO, school districts serve meals free of charge to children ages 18 and younger from low-income areas. Meals offered in the SSO follow the NSLP and SBP meal pattern requirements.
