  • Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD)

    Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents from age 18 up to 50th birthday will be required to meet special work requirements to be eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for more than 3 months during a 36-month period.

    Aging and Disability Resources Centers provide consumers of any age and ability with benefits counseling, person-centered planning to help identify available long and short term services and supports, application assistance and general information and assistance.

    In August 2015 the State of Connecticut, specifically the Departments of Social Services, Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Children and Families, submitted an application for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funding opportunity 16-001, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics Planning Grant.

  • Child Nutrition Programs

    Information on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child Nutrition Programs, including the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Afterschool Snack Program (ASP), Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), Special Milk Program (SMP), and Seamless Summer Option (SSO) of the NSLP.

    The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to help improve the health of low-income persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious food products provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

  • Connecticut AIDS Drug Assistance Program (CADAP)

    CADAP is a service that helps eligible Connecticut residents with HIV or AIDS afford the cost of medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

  • Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE)

    This program provides services to help eligible residents live in the community. Eligible applicants must be 65 years of age or older, be at risk of nursing home placement and meet the program’s financial eligibility criteria. To be at risk of nursing home placement means that the applicant needs assistance with critical needs such as bathing, dressing, eating, taking medications and toileting. CHCPE helps clients continue living at home instead of going to a nursing home. Each applicant’s needs are reviewed to determine if he/she may remain at home with the help of home care services.

  • Connecticut Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

    The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program protects the health, safety, well-being and rights of individuals who reside in skilled nursing facilities, residential care homes and assisted living facilities.

    The Connecticut Network of Care's vision for patients is to embrace hope and expect change. The site has an easy-to-use search tool that helps prospective patients search for mental health and addiction service providers in their area. It is also a general resource for education about conditions, medical tests and offers a connection to support groups.

    The Connecticut Coalition Against Bed Bugs (CCABB) provides training and support for health departments, housing authorities, medical facilities, college and universities regarding bed bug management in Connecticut.     The Drug Control Division works to protect the health and safety of Connecticut residents by regulating all persons and firms involved in the distribution of all legal drugs, medical devices and cosmetics in Connecticut. The division oversees the programs of compliance and enforcement, commission of pharmacy, prescription monitoring program and the medical marijuana program.
