• U.S. Court of Appeals Upholds Connecticut Challenge OF NRC Rule on Storage of Spent Nuclear Reactor Fuel

  Attorney General George Jepsen announced a landmark decision by a federal appeals court that upheld a challenge Connecticut filed with New York, New Jersey and Vermont, among others, to a rule by the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission that allows spent nuclear fuel to be stored at reactor sites for up to 60 years after the plants shut down.

  The results of two national studies on teen safe driving show that Connecticut is among the most advanced states whose laws help to prevent crashes injuries and deaths. This information comes as the state marks National Teen Safe Driving week Oct. 14 - 20.

  Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty said a stipulated judgment has resolved a 2008 lawsuit against a manufacturing facility in Newington, charged with repeated wastewater discharge violations.

• Attorney General Seeks Recovery of Incarceration Expenses from Former Probation Officer Richard Straub

  Attorney General George Jepsen said Monday that his Office is again seeking to recover incarceration costs from the state pension of Richard Straub, a former state probation officer convicted of sexually abusing eight juveniles under his charge, and later convicted of attempted murder for hire of a state prosecutor.
