Of Solicitation of Insurance by NY-based Entity
Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Katharine L. Wade is advising health insurance brokers and consumers that the Department received inquiries and complaints about the following entity soliciting and likely selling health insurance in Connecticut:
Employers Network Association, Inc. (ENA)
20 Madison Avenue, Valhalla, NY 10595
“Our records indicate this company has not obtained the proper license to market insurance products in Connecticut and may be operating illegally. Additionally, it is under a cease-and-desist order from the U.S. Department of Labor for alleged violations of laws relating to employer health plans,” Commissioner Wade said. “It is important that brokers who may be solicited by this company to sell insurance on its behalf be aware of the situation. The Department is investigating and we urge brokers and consumers with information, questions or concerns to contact the Department.”
Marketing insurance products without the proper license can lead to penalties and sanctions under pertinent state laws. Additionally, under Sec. 38a-275 of the Connecticut General Statutes, any person who assists, even indirectly, an unauthorized entity in the sale of insurance products can be held liable for the full amount of any claim or loss owed to a policyholder.
