Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) Commissioner Andrew N. Mais applauded Assistant Deputy Commissioner and Director of Market Conduct Kurt Swan on his receiving the Paul L. DeAngelo Memorial Teaching Award from the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (IRES) in recognition of his excellence in insurance education.
“This award is a well-earned testament to Kurt Swan’s leadership in insurance regulation and his citizenship in reaching out to educate others,” said Commissioner Mais. “It speaks highly to the quality of regulators in the Connecticut Insurance Department, the best insurance department in the world.”
The Paul L. DeAngelo Memorial Teaching Award annually honors an insurance regulator who has continually committed themselves to insurance regulatory education through their dedication to increasing and improving insurance regulatory knowledge. Through excellence in educating regulators, both the industry and the public benefit. The Award was conceived in 2000 and was first awarded in 2001 to The Family of Paul L. DeAngelo, to honor his memory.
Swan leads the Market Conduct Division and is responsible for overseeing the examinations of the records of domestic and foreign insurance companies to ensure equitable treatment of policyholders and claimants and compliance with statutes and regulations.
