Public Informational Meeting Concerning Improvements at Stamford Railroad Station
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) will be conducting a public informational meeting for State Project No. 0301-0157 concerning the Stamford Railroad Station Improvements Project. The meeting will be held on April 4th, 2013 (Thursday) at 7:00pm in the Stamford Government Center’s fourth floor cafeteria at 888 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, Connecticut, 06901.
In order to maintain smooth and efficient pedestrian transition at the Stamford Railroad Station, ConnDOT will be upgrading key features utilizing cost effective measures and up-to-date technology. The scope of work will be to extend the pedestrian overpass to allow access to all four platforms as well as the commuter drop-off lanes outside the station. The two middle island platform canopies will be extended to provide additional coverage. Stairwells and walkways will be installed at the end of the southeast platform and adjacent embankment to provide pedestrian access between the northbound platform and major intersection at Atlantic Street. Additional shelters will be installed on the two middle platforms. Real-time train information systems as well as static information and routing signage, will also be installed throughout the station.
The project schedule indicates that construction is expected to start in early spring 2014, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and coordination with the City of Stamford.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review starting at 6:30pm for the informal session. Plans will also be posted on the Department of Transportation’s and the City of Stamford’s websites for review prior to the meeting. ConnDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss the project. Anyone interested in requesting information on this project should contact Mr. Yure Kuljis, Project Manager, at telephone number (860) 594-2895. You may send written inquiries to Mr. Jayantha Mather, Transportation Principal Engineer, Department of Transportation, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, Connecticut 06131-7546 or via email at Jayantha.Mather@ct.gov. Please refer to State Project No. 0301-0157 in all correspondence.
