Connecticut Department of Transportation Seeks Comments on the Draft State Rail Plan

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is soliciting comments on the Draft 2010-2014 State Rail Plan (SRP) for the State of Connecticut. The SRP, developed in compliance with the guidelines of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008, P.L. 110-432, is a document that sets forth state policy involving passenger and freight rail in the state. It is utilized to develop strategies and priorities to enhance rail service and serves as the basis for federal and state rail investments within Connecticut. The draft SRP covers the period 2010 through 2030. A copy of the draft document is available on the Department’s web site at http://www.ct.gov/dot/srp.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Urges Parents and Caregivers to Get Their Child Safety Seats Inspected

The Connecticut Department of Transportation as well as the sixty nine fitting stations across the State are urging parents and caregivers to make sure their child safety seats are properly installed as part of Child Passenger Safety Week (September 19-25, 2010) certified technicians will be available to provide free hands-on child safety seat inspections and advice.

Safe Routes to School Invites Connecticut Students to Walk It and Bike It to School

The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program is pleased to announce that the Second Annual SRTS Walk It Bike It to School, Connecticut! Contest will be launched on International Walk to School Day, October 6, 2010. Elementary and middle school classrooms across the state will compete to log the most miles walked and/or biked to and from school.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation Reminds Travelers to “Share the Road”

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has launched its 2010 “Share the Road” campaign, highlighting the “3-feet” law that went into effect in late 2008, designed to provide a buffer zone for bicyclists. The goal of the campaign is to improve the safety of all travelers, including bicyclists, pedestrians, and equestrians, through awareness and education.

Notice is hereby given that the Connecticut Department of Transportation has submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection an application under Connecticut General Statutes Sections 22a-39, 22a-342, and Section 401 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (U.S.C. 1341), for a permit to conduct an activity in a wetland or watercourse and place an obstruction or encroachment riverward of stream channel encroachment lines (SCELs) for Bass Brook and Piper Brook.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation Schedules Pre-Bid Conference For Cannondale Rail Station

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has scheduled an official viewing of the Cannondale Station for interested vendors on Friday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cannondale station. Attendance is required for all prospective proposers. Currently five interested parties have scheduled to attend the viewing.

Bradley International Airport Announces JetBlue to Enter the ‘Gateway to New England’

Weekend Closure of Commuter Parking Lot Located at Exit 46 at Jefferson Street in Fairfield

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Park and Ride parking lot located on Jefferson Street (Route 15 Exit 46) in Fairfield will be closed to commuters on weekends during the months of April, May, June & July. This closure is necessary to accommodate the establishment of a construction management site and separate motorcycle safety training program.

Governor Rell: Connecticut Receives $40 Million For New-Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Corridor

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the second Advisory Committee Meeting concerning the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for improvements to Interstate 84 (I-84) corridor from Danbury to Waterbury will be held on January 13, 2010 at the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, 65 Tucker Hill Road, in the Town of Middlebury.
