Education and empowerment

When Governor Lamont took office in January 2019, one of his first actions was to form the Governor's Council on Women and Girls.

The Governor's Council on Women and Girls takes to heart the responsibility it has to the future of the State of Connecticut. Its goal is to tackle issues that impact the lives of women, girls, and their families.

“It’s true that women’s rights are human rights. Honoring that reality here in Connecticut is not only the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do. That’s why I am proud to launch the first-ever Council on Women and Girls in our state to deliver on our administration’s commitment to gender equality and opportunity. With this council, we can ensure that women and girls have every opportunity to determine their future and make a good living for themselves and their families”

— Governor Lamont

Looking to the future in STEM and manufacturing

There has been progress in the number of women in STEM and manufacturing fields. But a majority of those jobs continue to be held by males. In states across the country, leaders work hard to ensure equal access to resources. We are dedicated to give women and girls the opportunities they deserve.
