Local and regional bus lines help people get to work, get home, go out for fun, and travel anywhere in the world!

There are lots of bus routes in our cities and towns to take people where they need to go. That includes buses to passenger trains and Bradley International Airport.

CTtransit is the state-owned bus service and is the largest bus operation in Connecticut. There are eight divisions serving different areas of the state.

CTtransit Hartford

Learn about the 30 local and 12 express bus routes available. This bus system connects with Middletown Area Transit and CTtransit New Britain.

Bus routes are available across New Haven and connect with bus services for Meriden, Wallingford, Milford, and the lower Naugatuck Valley, plus the New Haven Line and Shore Line East passenger trains.

CTtransit Stamford

Bus routes in Stamford also connect to Norwalk buses; the New Haven Line, Shore Line East, and Harlem Line passenger trains; and Bee-Line buses in Westchester County, New York. I-BUS goes between downtown Stamford and White Plains, New York.

CTtransit Waterbury

Find local bus routes for Waterbury, Watertown, Middlebury, Wolcott, Prospect, and Naugatuck. ADA paratransit services are available from Northeast Transportation Company.

CTtransit New Britain and Bristol

Ride the bus and get ADA transit service in Berlin, New Britain, Cromwell, Newington, Plainville, Bristol, and Meriden. DATTCO provides the buses for New Britain’s East Street and South Street routes. ADA service is provided by First Transit for the Greater Hartford Transit District. Questions?

The Meriden and Wallingford Divisions offer four local routes and ADA services through a contract with Northeast Transportation Company.

Transit districts

Many areas have their own bus systems and provide special services for people with disabilities and seniors.

Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority (GBTA)

GBTA provides bus service in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, and Trumbull, including ADA paratransit service.

River Valley Transit

Learn about bus schedules and paratransit for Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, Essex, East Haddam, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook, plus connections to Madison, Middletown, and New London.

Housatonic Area Regional Transit (HART)

Find local bus routes, including service to the MTA Harlem Line railroad station in Brewster, NY. Senior/disabled dial-a-ride services are provided in several towns.

Milford Transit District

Ride the bus in Milford and connect to Norwalk for shoreline routes. ADA van service is provided in-town and can travel to Greater New Haven and Greater Bridgeport.

Northeastern Connecticut Transit District

Northwestern Connecticut Transit District

This system serves Torrington, Harwinton, Winchester, Litchfield, Morris, Kent, Sharon, Falls Village, Colebrook, Goshen, Salisbury, Norfolk, New Hartford, Cornwall, Canaan, and Barkhamstead. Get ADA paratransit service for all towns; seniors are asked to make a donation.

Norwalk Transit District

Ride the bus in Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, and Greenwich and take the coastal link to Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, and Milford. ADA service is also available for several towns.

Southeast Area Transit District (SEAT)

SEAT serves Norwich, New London, Groton, Waterford, East Lyme, Griswold, Montville, Ledyard, and Stonington. On Sunday, a special route connects the New London train station, Mystic, and Foxwoods Resort.

ADA Paratransit

If you have a disability that prevents you from using the public transit bus service in Connecticut, you may be eligible for ADA Paratransit service. ADA Paratransit is a shared ride, advanced reservation, origin-to-destination service for persons with disabilities who are unable to use the public bus service because of their disability.
