GOV. MALLOY: STATE RESURFACED 260 TWO-LANE MILES OF ROADWAYS IN 2017

 

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) resurfaced a total of 260 two-lane miles of roadways this construction season. Approximately 55 two-lane miles was also completed under CTDOT’s Pavement Preservation Program, which includes crack filling, surface patching, drainage repairs, and other rehabilitation work to extend the life of existing roadways.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Announces Additional Free Parking, Including Downtown New Britain, for CTfastrak Customers

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced the availability of additional free parking options for CTfastrak customers. CTfastrak customers can park for free in in downtown New Britain at the Szczesny Garage starting Monday, November 27, and a new overflow lot has been added across the street from East Street Station in New Britain.

GOV. MALLOY: STATE EXPERIENCES SURGE IN RIDERS UTILIZING THE RECENTLY EXPANDED CTTRANSIT BUS SERVICE CONNECTING UCONN’S CAMPUSES

 

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state’s recently expanded CTtransit bus route providing UConn students, faculty, and staff the ability to connect – for the first time ever – to the main UConn campus in Storrs, the downtown Hartford UConn campus, and UConn Health in Farmington via public transit is experiencing a surge in ridership, having served over 32,000 passenger trips since its launch on August 13.

Bus Service on Danbury Branch Rail Line Nov 17-19

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that from Friday evening, November 17, through Sunday, November 19, rail service will be suspended to accommodate the removal of overhead catenary wires on the Danbury Branch Line. Buses will be substituted for trains between South Norwalk and Danbury during this period.

CTDOT Releases Proposed Fares for CTrail Hartford Line Rail Service; Launches a 35-day Public Comment Period

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the proposed fares for the upcoming CTrail Hartford Line rail service and a 35-day comment period. The Department is providing a variety of ways for the public to submit comments on the proposed fares and on the Hartford Line’s Service and Fare Equity (SAFE) Analysis.

Oversize / Overweight Permitting System Scheduled to be Offline for 7 Hours to Facilitate System Upgrade – No Permits to be Issued During Outage

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 3 PM, and ending on Thursday, October 12, at 10 PM, the online Oversize/Overweight Vehicle Permitting System will be offline and unavailable for users while the system is upgraded. No permits can be generated during the scheduled outage. Users are urged to obtain any necessary permitting prior to the scheduled outage.

Rail Safety Week -- Sept. 24 - 30

 

Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Deputy Commissioner Anna M. Barry today was joined by Department of Motor Vehicle Commissioner Michael Bzdyra and Amtrak Police Captain Tracie McCain to kick off Rail Safety Week. The goal of Rail Safety Week is to increase public awareness about rail safety practices in order to reduce collisions between trains and motor vehicles or pedestrians.

CTDOT OPENS NEW MERIDEN PARKING GARAGE FOR RAIL CUSTOMERS

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) announced today that it has opened 225 parking spaces in a three-level garage located in downtown Meriden – an improvement that will make parking more convenient for CTrail Hartford Line Meriden station rail passengers and provide easy access to the City’s new transit-oriented development (TOD) sites.

U-Pass Program Provides Free Public Transportation for CT College Students

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), in conjunction with the University of Connecticut (UConn) and Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU), today announced the launch of the U-Pass CT program. Students at participating schools can ride public buses and trains within Connecticut by using their U-Pass and showing their valid student ID.

Malloy today announced that a joint venture of TransitAmerica Services and Alternate Concepts has been selected as the service provider that will operate and manage service on the CTrail Hartford Line – the passenger rail service currently under construction that will provide more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. The rail line is anticipated to launch in May 2018.

CTDOT offers Opportunity for Food Truck Vendors to Serve the West Haven Train Station

 

In response to requests from commuters and the recent success in obtaining a vendor for the Fairfield Metro rail station, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is seeking proposals from interested food truck vendors to operate at the West Haven train station in West Haven, Connecticut. The agency will formally issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) on Monday, June 12, 2017.
